Yes I know I am the Money Making Math Teacher. That is what I have done most of my career, the math teacher part that is. But I have also done a few other things when life happens. I have worked on movie sets and taught actors while they were on a TV series.
I have also worked as an energy marketer/scheduler for a company called The Energy Authority. It is the same type of company like Enron but not as big and bad as they were.
Here is how you get your electricity. All electricity is sent over the same power lines no matter what company you choose. I am going to use New York’s power company, Con Ed, as an example throughout this post. All generators need to close down for maintenance or sometimes they shut down themselves for various reasons. If didn’t get power for as often as that happens you would have a black out at least once a month.
The reason you are not blacked out is because ConEd will buy energy from another company and schedule it to be sent to ConEd’s “native load” (customers). This happens everywhere and 24 hours a day every day. As a scheduler, I was sending out energy to people all over the country even though I was based in Florida.
So even though you think you are always getting your energy from your municipal company, in reality you are receiving it from just about anywhere. As long as it gets to you, everyone is happy.
Now that is where Ambit comes in. With deregulation, we don’t have to pay the prices of the local company if we decide to choose another. It is the same energy, same services, same power lines, etc. The major difference is the price and incentives.
With Ambit Energy, the prices are guaranteed to be less expensive or they will pay the difference. They also offer travel rewards and I will get my first one (because I am my first customer) which is a 3 day/2 night stay at a luxury hotel anywhere in the US.
I know many of you reading this are not in the deregulated states (though about 5 or 6 more will officially deregulate this year). What I am saying is that these are all huge selling points to those of you who decide to become consultants. The possiblilities are endless and how would anyone not understand that this would benefit them? It’s almost like saying only Starbucks can sell coffee….ok maybe its not exactly like that…but do you get the point?
I believe Ambit Energy is going to truly take over.
