What Not To Do When Posting On Forums-A Rant
Filed Under internet home business, forums | Posted on January 26, 2009
Many of us who are trying to promote an internet home business use forums as a means of free advertising and to learn more from other marketers. It really is like an online course in so many ways. I’ve had learned so much about internet marketing and affiliate, MLM and investment opportunities through forums alone.
You can make great connections through forums and inevitably make some invaluable business contacts. I have “met” a few people online who have majorly helped me along the way.
Doesn’t sound too much like a rant though…does it. Now here goes…on the MMG forum at http://www.moneymakergroup.com/forums.html or something like that there is a complete asshole who has provoked me into writing this post. The anonymity of the internet lets people hide behind their computers and let’s their true personna come out. These people are often to cowardly to act that way in real life.
On forums, most of us try to promote our own programs on threads specific to our company and will maybe comment on another thread in order to learn more. Most of us try to stay above board and actually try to provide an intellectual tone.
Not this asshole. Should I say his name? Why not….no one knows him. Well maybe towards the end. This guy constantly posts on other threads and essentially puts anyone who promotes anything else down. He never provides a comment that would give food for thought…just nasty, mean and completely unintellectual.
He has done it to me and commented on things I was promoting, but what really pissed me off is I have been reading his posts lately on every thread and he does it to everyone. It doesn’t seem the guy has an intelligent bone in his body and uses anyway he can to put everyone down.
This is what not to do when posting on forums. You will not make friends or connections this way. It will not happen. You only lose respect and when you need help in this cyber community people will turn on you too.
Here is to you. Let’s just say his name starts with an O and ends with an R. Maybe you can get a life and stop needling people but rather contribute in a positive way. If the world were filled with people like you we would be in a hopeless situation.
Until the next time,
Laura
forums internet home businessSo What Is A Backlink Or How To Get More Traffic

As every owner of a website knows, your site is useless if you cannot get traffic. You can spend hundreds of dollars with all the bells and whistles, but if no one can find it then its nonexistent to your potential market.
One of the most significant and free ways to get more traffic to your site is to increase the number of backlinks that point to your site.
So what is a backlink? A backlink is literally another place where the URL or anchor text for your website is shown. It could be on a blog, another website, in the resource box of an article, or in a signature on a forum. The more of these backlinks you have the point to your website, the better chance your website will be seen.
Article Marketing. This is one of the best ways to increase your web presence. When you submit an article to an ezine and it is published you will always be able to include a resource box. Your resource box should say something about you and also have at least one link to your website and possibly to your blog. If a reader is interested in what you have to say, you can be fairly sure to click on one of your links to find out more about you and your product/services. Also, other publishers may find your article and choose to include it on their website and now you have two or more backlinks for the price of one.
Posting on Forums. This is a beautiful way of creating more backlinks and also become an internet presence at the same time. There are many business forums where you can learn more about marketing techniques, work from home ideas and promote your own programs and give ideas to others. The interaction amongst forum members is usually very interesting and mostly civil. The point is though that you are allowed a signature which you can use anchor text that points to your website or literally give the URL. Some forums don’t allow affiliate ID’s in the signature so many people use anchor text.
Commenting On Blogs. Blogs are easily indexed by the search engines because they are always looking for new content. There is always an area at the end of a post where you can comment on that specific post. It’s a good idea to post on blogs that are related to your niche but in the end it is not that important. What is important is to have your URL out there where you are adding up your backlinks.
Free and targeted traffic is ideal for internet marketers. One does not have to pay to be a sponsored ad. By creating more and more backlinks, you are creating more ways for the search engines to find you. If they are finding you then so are the people who are looking for exactly what you are selling. It doesn’t get better than that.

Don’t Miss Out On The Opportunity To Learn More By Posting On Forums

I realize I have said it before but I have to say it again. One of the best and free ways to learn about marketing and business is by posting on forums. You will soon get your name out there as well and may become someone look to for answers as well.
Forums are places of learning and interaction. The best forums will have experts posting regularly to give advice and interact with the forum community. Anyone can ask questions about starting a home business, article writing, how to see a scam, opinions on businesses and much, much more.
Its best to read before you start posting especially if you are new to a forum. Regulars on forums are often like a family and can be very welcoming. If you are new to a forum, ease your way in by introducing yourself and asking an intelligent question. You may be surprised by the number of insightful responses and maybe even become addicted to learning this way as I have. There is a great chance that an expert will read your post and respond with some insider help that is absolutely priceless. This happens often!
If you are becoming addicted and on the forum maybe even too much, then you know you are on your way to becoming quite a knowledge marketer and business person. If you are on a forum that allows promotion of programs you can now post about the program that you are promoting. You may even find that you will get inquiries solely because you are now a trusted member of the community. This is the best part. Now people will come to you.
It is not about an ego boost or just getting people to sign up under you. You have become a known internet marketer who is trusted and gaining a good reputation. Now that is where you want to be. And just think….out of the millions of people offering dreams on the internet, you are the one people choose to guide them.
Now that’s a good feeling.

I am completely addicted to forums. I personally feel there is no better way to make contacts and learn about improving your business than posting and reading forum posts. I learned about html, social bookmarking, SEO and so many other necessities almost solely from forums and the qualified people who post daily.
A few more good reasons are:
- The most successful internet marketers post on the forums daily. They do this because they have many affiliates on these forums and want to keep in touch in order to show their presence and allegiance. In reality, the more successful you are, the more successful they become. One hand washes the other…so to speak.
- You become known as an internet presence. The more intelligent posts you make or interesting questions you pose will give other marketers the impression that you are out there and on top of your game. I always read posts by a screen name that I have read before and know they always have something interesting to say. Literally look for the people who have many posts and it is almost guaranteed that you will learn something from them.
- Your signature is an automatic backlink. You must always post your signature with your website when you end a post. Inevitably someone will click on your links if you have written an interesting post and that is exactly what you want. The more links to your website the better.
- Be interesting, intelligent and friendly. Make people want to read and reply to your posts. Ask good questions and respond to questions in an intelligent manner. Do not use all lower-case letters and use punctuation. I have seen posts from people who do not know how to write and it is the biggest turn-off. Don’t take short cuts because you cut away from the intelligent comments you may bring to the table.
Go out and do it. Look up business forums and sign up. Read and post every day and see what it does for you. You will be amazed at how many people will be willing to help
